Metal imports and early metal production
Bronze production arose in many places in central and western Europe around 2000 BC. In Britain and central Europe centres of wealth and princely elites grew up and from there knowledge of metal technology spread. Objects made of the new metal reached Scandinavia in the form of tools and weapons as well as women's ornaments. At the beginning of the Bronze Age metalworking was fully developed in Denmark. New weapons like swords, spears and lance heads of bronze were introduced.
